I'd like to use Bhyve from virt-manager since its supposed to support Bhyve, but when I open it I'm greeted with the following:
Could not detect a default hypervisor. Make sure the appropriate QEMU/KVM virtualization packages are installed to manage virtualization on this host.
I can also try...
I'm trying to get Haiku to run in Bhyve. While the installation goes great and I can get its UEFI bootloader up, the bootloader doesn't like something about the installed system and won't run it. FreeBSD 12.2, Haiku R1 B2.
While I realize this is not FreeBSD's fault, I was wondering...
I am trying to run Debian Linux under bhyve. Results:
1) Debian 9 with kernel 4.9 boots
2) self-compiled vanilla 4.14 from kernel.org boots
3) Debian 10 with kernel 4.19 does not boot
4) self compiled vanilla 4.19 from kernel.org does not boot
5) another Debian kernel v. 5.6 does not...

Linux has Unprivileged containers, through which a user can manage containers if admin allows him via a special config file, faking some parts with user subuids and subgids, and others, like create devices, etc… are "bypassed" during the installation process of "tweaked" templates of lxchub (or...
I thank this forum for all the info I had.
For several months, I think about the idea of migrating the whole Windows architecture under FreeBSD, currently we have:
ISP Modem / Router
Server Windows Server 2008R2 1
- File Sharing (1,7TB DATA)
- Domain Controller (25...
I have two old (hardware) production servers, one which runs bhyve VMs and another which runs virtualbox VMs, which are to be replaced -- ideally by a workhorse.
Can a single FreeBSD server be made to stably host both bhyve and virtualbox VMs?
(It occurs to me that it might...
While restart, VM based on CentOS 6.8 not start (but first start - no problems). I migrated it from other server, there were no problems.

A long time linux user, I tried FreeBSD on digitalocean a few years back. Now I'm to the point where my entire cloud & home infrastructure is FreebSD based- pfsense, FreeNAS, and a FreeBSD application server.
Release: FreeBSD 11.1-RELEASE-p4
I'm currently running a server based on FreeBSD 10.3. I'm using jails to separate all the running services. Since I only have one public IPv4 address, I use PF and a nginx-proxy to redirect to the specific jails inside the NAT.
My plan is to use 11.0 and it's enhanced bhyve features to...
If I reset or shutdown running VM (after it is booting) via bhyvectl, host (HP DL360 G9) is rebooting. Host OS - FreeBSD 10.1 EFI, guest - Linux (Ubuntu Server 14.04, CentOS 6.7). Both have pass-through devices.
And one more question - can I can connect to VM terminal via host?
I have a VM running FreeBSD-CURRENT in bhyve but I could not get the network working properly.
I created tap0 and bridge0 interfaces as described in the relevant chapter of the handbook. I have only a wireless NIC, so I followed the advice in bhyve wiki page and created proper pf...
Just reading about OpenStack, in particular about supported hypervisors. Is there any technical reason why bhyve isn't on that list or is it just a matter of it being too young, immature or a lack of time/interest from the community?
Though it diverges topically towards a primarily Linux-oriented architecture -- topically, as towards the origins of the Xen Project, the Xen Hypervisor, and concepts of software defined networking (SDN) with the Xen framework, as Xen being a project developed originally in the Linux developers...
