Marvell’s Kirkwood is the platform behind the SheevaPlug and its derivatives. FreeBSD supports Kirkwood, but its wiki article is fairly barren and only describes a diskless setup using TFTP and NFS to host the kernel and root. I did originally think that Cooltrainer had managed to get FreeBSD working on a Seagate GoFlex Home unit, but it turned out that it was on a Seagate Dock Star, which isn't the same thing at all.
I would love to get it working one day. I have four of these units, as well as a Seagate Goflex Net. I'd hate the idea of them going into landfill...
Hey I've been working with the C.H.I.P. for a couple years and I'd be interested in getting OSes other than linux running on there. I've already tried to boot the freebsd kernel using the u-boot on one of my C.H.I.P.s but couldn't get it to boot and tbh I'm not too familiar with how the kernel boots.
