Solved Cinnamon: Crashes At Login

Sorry, wasn't sure if this should go in "X.Org" or "Window Managers" forum.

Recently I was trying to get the Logout/Shutdown dialog in Cinnamon to work correctly. After logging out into XDM via the dialog, Cinnamon immediately crashed after trying to log back in. The desktop background displayed with no icons nor panel. Then a dialog came up saying something like "Cinnamon has just crashed... would you like to restart it?". Hitting "Yes" just causes the crash notification to re-display and "No" results in nothing happening. Ever since, the same exact thing happens when trying to log in to Cinnamon. I have tried renaming the files/folders ~/.cinnamon, ~/.local/share/cinnamon, and ~/.config/cinnamon-session.

Currently I have reconfigured my ~/.xsession to run LXDE so I am able to use my FreeBSD desktop. But I would prefer to switch back to Cinnamon.

I do have a cinnamon.core dump in my home directory, but I'm not sure what I can do with it.

Thank you chessmaster. Meanwhile, I have rebuilt Cinnamon and it is working again.

--- Edit ---
Marking as "Solved" as rebuilding fixes until next Gnome upgrade.
