I'm stumped with a problem and would appreciate any pointers for troubleshooting.
I got my RPI to start booting in 3440x1440 with the following /boot/msdos/config.txt:
While testing the capabilities of beadm and boot environments on a spare machine, I deleted the /boot directory, and the system would no longer boot. With competent help from IRC, I was able to recover without booting a rescue system (except in case 3c) as defined below). I'm here to describe...
tl;dr I added 'snd_driver_load="YES"' and now I am stuck at freebsd logo with loud fans.
I haven't been able to get audio to work on my new FreeBSD 13-CURRENT install. I had basically tried everything, reconnected everything and pressed every google, bsd forum and bug tracker link and done...
I don't understand why FreeBSD won't boot when I choose to manually partition the disk during the installation process. The FreeBSD installer does the following when choosing "Auto (UFS)":
However, if I try to manually partition it like this:
FreeBSD won't boot afterwards:
I recently installed FreeBSD 12.1-STABLE on a Raspberry Pi 3B+. FreeBSD booted fine from a technical perspective, but took about five minutes to get to a login prompt. I reflashed the SD card with the RELEASE version, and the same thing happened. I noticed it hung up somewhere near...
I bought a Lenovo Thinkpad E485(Ryzen3 2200, only HDD attached) and trying to install FreeBSD 12.0-RELEASE, but booting always stucks on a line:
ahcich0: AHCI reset...
and sometimes hangs on one line before or after that line.
I'm wondering if the laptop is defective, in case I have to change it.
The system is a Supermicro H8QG6 mobo, fitted with a single Opteron 6174, with 32 Gigs of RAM. The same system is running 11.x, with zero problems, for a couple of months.
FreeBSD 12 install media freezes (the pipe stops rotating) on this screen
then about 40 seconds later the screen gets...
ThinkPad Z60m, FreeBSD 12.0-RELEASE, IBM DVD drive.
OpenBSD and Linux works.
It is trying to boot but hangs on these 3 messages:

Good day, everyone. I recently installed FreeBSD 11.2 on my desktop, however I have been having some issues. My system only boots on safe mode. Whenever I boot with verbose mode, I get stuck on the Core id Shift 1. I asked on reddit's FreeBSD subreddit and was told that it is probably a bug in...
I've got a raspberry pi 2b running Freebsd 11.0. Works fine (except keeping world up to date is a pain for a non-tier-1 architecture), but given that 11.0 is EOL I need to upgrade to 11.1. So I built a new image with crochet from branch releng/11.1 in git. However, this image fails to boot...
For those of you using KVM as a hypervisor for FreeBSD guest machines, if a freshly installed FreeBSD 10.4-release guest hangs during boot, it might be 213155. See screenshot
This also happens if you upgrade a guest machine from FreeBSD 10.3 to FreeBSD 10.4.
My host machine has an AMD...
It is a new install on an old IBM tower server. I have played with 10.x 32 and 64 bit on it before but this is 64bit 11.1. I think there is an issue with a hard disk but it seems inconsistent.
The server is an IBM 84852AU 206m. The boot drive is a SATA 64GB ssd taken from and HP proliant...
