Thanks. I've seen that but never had any success getting FreeBSD working on a SheevaPlug.![]()
FreeBSD for Kirkwood
Marvell’s Kirkwood is the platform behind the SheevaPlug and its derivatives. FreeBSD supports Kirkwood, but its wiki article is fairly barren and only describes a diskless setup using TFTP and NFS to host the kernel and root. ARM as a Tier 2 platform receives no support, no official releases, a...cooltrainer.org
Thanks. I've seen that but never had any success getting FreeBSD working on a SheevaPlug.
I did originally think that Cooltrainer had managed to get FreeBSD working on a Seagate GoFlex Home unit, but it turned out that it was on a Seagate Dock Star, which isn't the same thing at all.
I would love to get it working one day. I have four of these units, as well as a Seagate Goflex Net. I'd hate the idea of them going into landfill...
Hey I've been working with the C.H.I.P. for a couple years and I'd be interested in getting OSes other than linux running on there. There's still a community over on Discord at https://discord.gg/UvYbvPrqk6. I'm __chickn__ on there. I've already tried to boot the freebsd kernel using the u-boot on one of my C.H.I.P.s but couldn't get it to boot and tbh I'm not too familiar with how the kernel boots. Fill free to hit me up or join the server.
Any progress on getting this running on SheevaPlug? Thanks. I've seen that but never had any success getting FreeBSD working on a SheevaPlug.

Actually I haven't touched it in years...Any progress on getting this running on SheevaPlug?
You are not going to be able to find something like you're wanting. After looking at the C.H.I.P., it looks like your best bet would be to use the composite output (the thing that looks like a headphone jack) and plug it into a TV or a scaler that outputs HDMI. The TRS to composite cable is still on sale on the C.H.I.P. website. You can then use something like a RetroTINK (or similar scaler) to output the composite signal to an HDMI display.
they look ok to me.
funny thing is that the cable is more expensive than the active converter
