GNOME3 gnome-shell crashing

So, I installed FreeBSD 10.3 and pkg install'd xorg and gnome3. Set the required daemons to start in rc.conf and got into gnome3 gdm and desktop without too much trouble.

When using the thing, however, gnome-shell, and other stuff too, keeps crashing all the time, which is mostly visible as the window frames blinking when it reloads. Also, the animations are not working (though glxinfo tells that acceleration is there). Is it supposed to be like this? If there's anyone from the FreeBSD GNOME3 porting effort reading, is GNOME3 so tied to Lennart's brainchilds that it's a futile attempt to port/use it on other-than-systemd-Linux nowadays?
