The irony here is that this is a screen from an old ASUS R517SA which is Intel based (N3700) and the Amiga emulator will not show the old classic background that says "Intel Outside" no matter how I try to make it ......

rsronin, if you are not on mesa-devel try it. Unless you are getting a kernel panic on boot, in that case just stay as you are. Other than that, what did you do to get it working?

If you are already on mesa-devel open a ticket on bugzilla or the drm-kmod github repo to raise awareness of issues.

I'm not in for experiments right now, happy to have it working for now. I went back from latest to quarterly and then there was no mismatch with the nvidia driver version. Based on some other posts from you, you have far more technical knowledge about drm-kmod related stuff and my brain is full with real life issues these days.
 
Latest iteration of my freebsd hifi listening setup. Thinkpad X220 running FreeBSD 14.4-RELEASE, X11 + windowmaker, with Wolfson WM8740 DAC/PSU and SMSL PO100 usb spdif interfacef/re-clocker, on top of an HD8-A1 class-A headphone amplifier, with Beyerdynamic DT-990 PRO headphones. As shown, streaming the lofi girl channel using mpv, I also have mpd configured. Admittedly the audio electronics is starting to get a little bit out of control 😂 , I really need to work out how to move the dac and amp off the table top. It sounds gorgeous though, the best sound quality I've heard so far. I have also tested this setup with my Quad 77 amp and Tannoy speakers, it sounds very nice, especially playing .flac's with mpd. The PO100 will support DSD / DOP64, but I have not tried that yet, nor configured for bitperfect with this setup. I am using base OSS with nothing on top (no pulseaudio, pipewire etc). Perhaps I need a separate small stand to put the audio gear on, or add a shelf underneath.

Detail of audio cabling. If this keeps growing I may invest in a local mains plugbar to reduce the number of trailing mains cables. Though I think this is probably going to be it for a while now. :-)

I have added the following two settings in /etc/sysctl.conf, as documented in the sound(4) manpage.

# auto-configure default usb soundcard
hw.snd.default_auto=2

# better sound quality
hw.snd.feeder_rate_quality=4
 
FreeBSD 14.4, Windowmaker and X11, in the ISS cupola... I'm not sure what the thinkpad is, possibly a T61?... and it looks like the trackpoint red rubber cap has floated off in zero-G somewhere. Oh I don't know, maybe it is there just above the 'B' key, if you squint at the photo hard enough.

Only this... though it may just be a high altitude weather balloon, they can get very large at altitude. Pretty strange looking. Perhaps a high altitude balloon that is partially deflated, leaking or collapsing in on itself? They are made of a silvery reflective material that looks a bit like that. Don't know.

To be honest most of those videos they've released aren't remotely convincing. I haven't seen anything that looks "real".

Interesting, I hadn't heard of that one before. I guess that's quite old, its nice to see a wmaker desktop. Did someone say a while back that there is a wayland desktop that looks something like windowmaker, or openbox? I can't remember. Still, I'm going to struggle on with X11 for the time being, as long as X11 is struggling on. :-)
 
Little something I've been chopping together - forked hikari and brought to wlroots 0.20 and forked rofi to get that layer-shell action which hikari was lacking

It's honestly pretty amateur stuff but I really like it - links if you wanna use - but I'd say unless you're keyboard centric and a fan of the stacking style - you'd probably prefer sway.

I'm kinda a noob in an isolation chamber, so forgive my arrogance... and ignorance.

The definition of UFO is Unidentified Flying Object
First of all it's not flying, as I can observe it's just floating and still and with that appearance I identify it as a balloon and for these two reasons I don't consider it a UFO.
Most known UFOs are balloons, as weather balloons, drones, window reflection lights and shadows of something behind the person holding the camera or video edit.
I believe in outer space life but I can't believe they got here already.
It's easier to believe there are yet species to identify in the planet, hiding from us in the forest, caves, remote islands or deep ocean and once found it's seen as alien.
I do also believe in things science can't yet explain that makes stuff move, appear or disappear by itself and interact with us that we identify as paranormal activity related to ghosts.
One day science will be able to explain it and the day that happens everyone will understand and say "of course it is and that happens because..."
But for now it's like explaining radio waves and frequency to someone living in the year 500 BC, they can't understand or conceive that idea and so it's magic in a box, it's God, paranormal, ghost, etc.

As high altitude balloons rise high in the atmosphere, they become much larger https://www.sciencing.com/do-balloons-expand-high-altitudes-6400424/ and eventually they naturally lose pressure and deflate, and come back down. So I thought the thing they filmed over Moron airbase might be what one of those looks like when its high up and is starting to deflate and collapse in on itself. Of course, I'm only guessing. Looking at the photo below, it doesn't really look like that thing they filmed over Moron AFB, though I guess its in a place that you might expect to see one.
