Solved FreeBSD equivalent of Linux's ZED "ZFS Event Daemon"?

I came to know about Linux's ZED here. Perhaps in the future it will be upstreamed to OpenZFS, and will appear in FreeBSD.

Until that time, is there a way to take action when ZFS events happen?

Illumos has https://illumos.org/man/1M/syseventadm which allows to runs programs in response to sysevents, some of which are generated by ZFS. Perhaps FreeBSD has something similar, more general in scope than ZED?


As side note: I can see man zfs-events on the console, but not on FreeBSD man pages online.

Hi all, I am trying to build some devd rules that will trigger on various conditions. devd.conf(5) only has an incomplete list of the various systems, subsystems, and types available. Is there a better place to be looking for this info? In particular I would like to see the events for ZFS...

zfsd(8) is a ZFS fault management daemon, whereas zed(8) is, as priyadarshan mentioned, a ZFS Event Daemon.

zed(8) can be found upwards from 13.0-STABLE (and in 13.0-RELEASE source code, but is not implemented yet).

System source ( /usr/src/sys/contrib/openzfs/cmd/zed/).

Also, I have realised why I could not find zfs-events in online man pages. They are called zpool-events(8).
