I have a problem with Windows 10 Anniversary update on bhyve.
When I try to update, installer reports too low memory! (At least 2GB required)
I've set 8GB, task manager shows 8GB, available is 7GB.
Is this the problem with bhyve?
I have Hyper-V as well and there wasn't any problem with the...
I just got FreeBSD running on a raspberry pi. I tried a few different ISO files before finding one I could successfully boot.
The one that worked for me was FreeBSD-11.0-RC3-arm-armv6-RPI2.img.
After install I realised there is not only 11.0-RC3 available, but also 11.0-RELEASE.
I'm brand new...

I followed the update instructions here to update from 10.1 to 10.3. My only way of accessing this server is via ssh, and I have now been locked out (the ssh address is no longer known by my PC). Are there any steps to take / configurations to check to prevent this from happening again? I cannot...
Sorry for creating a new thread but I thought it would be better to start a new one either to respawn the old one.
But I didn't understand from an old discussion if it was a bug of ezjail-admin or it was a normal behaviour. But how to update jails in that case? And how do I understand update is...
I am upgrading 10.2 to 10.3. freebsd-update -r 10.3-RELEASE upgrade said that the following files have changed
and it won't be installing them. But actually didn't show any merge. Where the update or mergemaster store the new config files unpacked...
I was looking for some info about whats the best way to keep jails updated and found many posts saying to never run freebsd-update inside of the jails.
Someone could explain why not?

Right now I have set up my home "play box" machine (vsftpd listening on Internet, Samba listening on LAN, BitTorrent client) to apply updates in the core system and ports in an unattended manner. This means automatically. Then I grep the log and if a patch is available, I reboot the system (I...
I'm keeping getting weird messages when I try to update my email managed jails:
I'm on FreeBSD 10.2-RELEASE-p11 and ezjail v3.4.2
The jails show the right version inside but the update progress doesn't seem to have finished.
This is what I'm getting:
ezjail-admin update -u
I have tried ports-mgmt/poudriere because some unexpected issue related to python and curses has crept into my ports system after using ports-mgmt/portmaster quite a long time without having it noted early. I hope I have strictly followed /usr/ports/UPDATING all the time :D. Now I have a few...
When I was upgrading from 10.1-RELEASE to 10.2-RELEASE through a normal binary update with freebsd-update -r 10.2-RELEASE, I got a few errors about no files existing: /usr/sbin/freebsd-update: cannot open files/.gz: No such file or directory
I followed this solution, by updating the src, the...
I'd like to know if you have a good way of keeping a system completely up to date in a completely automated way.
If my understanding is correct, I can add
42 8 * * * freebsd-update cron
in root's crontab to have the base system (I guess that means the kernel and the programs in /bin)...
