What is you preferred internet-browser?

Just gave www/falkon a try.

Using https://browserbench.org/Speedometer3.1/ Falkon gave me the score 5.71 on this computer, compared to 8.91 with Firefox. This is a bit slow and it feels. With Chromium I got 10.4. Konqueror scored 6.16.

With www/tor-browser I got the the speed score 9.18 and with www/waterfox 9.80.

I usually use https://www.vsynctester.com/

I trust most worthwhile browsers accelerate javascript pretty fast, but while I get ok Vsync numbers with Firefox I've seen nearly-straight lines with Edge (still not enough to get me to deal with that copy/paste thing though). Also works as a general system stutter test.

Firefox 138+ trying to show me an AI bar and vertical tabs was enough to keep me on ESR for now vs changing 2 about:config settings

I'm fine with www/firefox, I could give a try to www/falkon but I guess it would take similar build time or longer than www/firefox which builds in 1h, so i don't think i need it.

ralphbsz does that, too, I enjoy reading his posts. I did tease him a bit about that, and called him 'Professor'.

I was never a fan of lynx, my take is that command-line and text-based user interfaces have their uses, but also limitations. Ncurses can only take you so far, even if you have the very latest security standards and encryption backing your browsing activities.

I understand your point-of-view with Lynx. For me, it was used during a time when i was still using dial-up internet and 512Mb RAM lol. Lynx was so fast and it allowed me to view web pages without long dial-up related delays. I hated those modem sounds. I remember trying to muffle the modem whenever i was online late at night. LOL. I didn't want to wake up the whole hose over web surfing.

Lynx was so fast and it allowed me to view web pages without long dial-up related delays. I hated those modem sounds. I remember trying to muffle the modem whenever i was online late at night. LOL. Lynx used to be my browser for figuring out how to fix my broken X session before cell phones.

I’m in the Lumina DE community. It’s a smaller community of the larger FreeBSD umbrella. The core dev guy is pretty cool. Hadn’t poked around in Lumina to look for the default browser yet. They’re prob in the forums
