Trackpad not working on Google Auron_Paine

hello, all! currently having issues with my trackpad not working on my (frankly ancient c740 chromebook, Auron_Paine). i've had to use a usb mouse for the time being, but i would like to use my trackpad when on the go (and other situations).

any idea how to get this to work, from the results it appears to be unsupported, if so, what are some workarounds?
