I don't think anyone has made something like this yet, but it would be nice to have ATL (Android Translation Layer) for FreeBSD...

Firstly: adding something like ATL does not change the way FreeBSD works. Instead, it will work the same way as the linuxolator or WINE does; it will add capability to FreeBSD.
As to why; there are a few interesting open source Android applications available. Having something like ATL on FreeBSD means that it would be easier to test out those applications.
ОК. I once worked with Genymotion: crap is crap. Okay, the world moves on, develops. But what's stopping you from assembling a real (not virtual) stand on a real Android for a small price and experimenting. Why create some kind of soap bubbles in the form of emulations again?
