I'm stuck on this rock for some time.

Try to get Bluetooth working on FreeBSD.
- partially successful, at least; good luck!

when you think more about how human evolved you then realize that there is 0 places for us to be. human body in it's way to where we are as species - it is so tied to the earth's conditions. i much dislike all these non-sensical dream-like future scenarios of being a cosmic civilization -- as if we are not such already. aren't earth a celestial body in cosmos anyway? all these, mars, moon, whatever suitable earth-like place to explore is usual "noodles" you fed up by intellectual charlatans. from science perspective only, it is though, very valuable to study, undoubtful
it always was BS, sadly; nice to watch as a kid though

Correction: 1 place - Earth. (Must have been a programmer's mistake. Started counting at 0 😁)

I wouldn't call them 'intellectual'. And I wouldn't call no science fiction author nor movie producer a charlatan. Guys like Elon Musk, who are telling people this was actually a neat idea to go for, and spending money on such to collect even more money, instead investing their money into real solutions but following their own insane nightmares, are charlatans.

Like dystopia movies, which basic core idea of the plot is we're all just in a bad dream and only need to wake up, they are following quite the same idea of human's belief, to blame others and simply run away would get us rid of our problems. That's immature teenager's thinking. Such is nice for entertainment. To flee reality and dream for an hour or two while eating popcorn. But an adult should be mature enough to make a difference between entertainment, dreaming and reality.
Settling on other planets is just the science fiction version of fleeing from problems. Of course, it seems so easy and comfy at the first glance: Just run away and leave all the junk behind, instead of taking the effort and actually solve anything. Novels and movies want to entertain. So they spare their audience any realistic points of view, like to thought it all out completely what they tell. Of course not. Otherwise it turns out, it's all unrealistic BS - the dream ends. That's a way how comedy works: Take an easy way out solution and consequently think it out to the end until it reveals itself the bogus it is.
Mostly spared is the fact that to realize such a dream was way more effort than to solve the actual problem. Again: Then you wouldn't have an entertaining story.

But above all, what all believers in such science fiction junk don't see:
You cannot run away from problems. Particulary not the ones being in yourself.
You always will take them with you, where ever you go. Even if you someday may reach the promised paradise, your problems will be all there again, too. Only solving problems solve them. Not running away. And once you've solved them, there is no need to run away anymore. So you need to solve your problems anyways, while going elsewhere doesn't help on it, so you can stay where you are in the first place, e.g. here: Planet 0.

Only 3 places to go
In reality, none.

We have a neighbor we really don't like (the reasons are complicated, and not to be discussed without my attorney present). I usually suggest that I want them to move to ... another town, in a different county (because the court system is local to our county). Another state in the US. Another country outside the US. Those suggestions are serious, and we're working on implementing them. The joke version is that I want to introduce them to my good friend Elon. His trademark charm with women and his charisma will convince our bad neighbors to move to Mars, which is roughly the correct distance.

In reality, I think Elon (and a few dozen similar-minded people) are the worst scammers and criminals we have around right now.

Please excuse me, i need to work further in my garage on my "Alcubierre drive".
Time for a transmission oil change? Expect a big mess on the floor afterwards.

Do we really have to endure and continue one of these threads?
Have to? No. But in a certain fashion useful and helpful? Perhaps.
