The music itself would be considered as rock'n roll rather than heavy metal.
Why Heavy Metal? It's said because the designer (both for mechanics and humans), Mamoru NAGANO, loves and plays (as a basist) heavy metal.

What transforms among Heavy Metals is L-Gaim Mk.2 which transforms into flying form (can be seen in this video) and some limited others.
