bhyve Best way to monitor VMs

I am installing a collector on my Internet facing router and want minimal overhead.

Sorry for resurrecting and old thread -- but what alternatives for monitoring are there if one requirement is that I want to monitor a bunch of OpenWRT-routers with very limited hardware capabilities? What monitoring systems has light enough collectors for this?

Network devices are typically monitored with SNMP. That's always an option to use for devices like this. SNMPv2 or v3 is secure enough.
