Alternatives to Firefox and Chrome?

Hi,I am looking for alternatives to Firefox and Chromes that retain basic functionality when browsing a modern website while putting less pressure on CPU and GPU.Do you have any recommendations?

Right now I'm using Firefox 151.0.3, but I'm now wondering what would be the best browser to use alongside Firefox?

My plan is to keep using Firefox for regular use such as watching videos, or posting in this forum, but what would be the best browser to use for online banking and that sort of thing?

Any info greatly appreciated.
 
Sincerely, it depends on what you are trying to browse, if it's javascript heavy you are better using one of those or respective derivatives (palemoon or LibreWolf may reduce the usage but probably not by much).
On the other hand if the sites you want are not dependent on javascript you can try dillo for example (but for example this forum will be broken). Servo may be an option but I don't know about resource usage.
 
Instead of tuning on a browser level try to focus on your desktop environment whether it is running Gnome or KDE as this should have a bigger impact. For example, my legacy machine from the ancient 2009 era uses chromium that handles modern sites fine since I am running enlightenment.

I enabled policies to disable certain features that trims down the browser so this is working out for me. To have complete control you can run noscript and adblocker and this raises more time than what it may be worth in your case.

Most modern sites is optimized for chromium as that is the largest use case so you might be better off using chromium based browsers otherwise you can try falkon to test your luck.

And Konqueror lets you split your view as much as you want (horizontally too). ;)

I'm normally a Firefox user, but "need" to use Chromium to be able to use Spotify. On my KDE, Chromium feels a bit more responsive and alert than FF. Otherwise Kononquer seems to do a great job on weak hardware.
 
I have Librewolf working in my USB-system but I didn't do something with it. It's not bad but how does it manage passwords without some account registration? It's a Firefox fork, btw.
