I use apache2 for this and find it pretty lightweight.

Oh, yes. But the nice thing about fzf is, it gives you that list to pick from while you are typing the thing you are looking for. As you type that list gets shorter and shorter until you spot the thing you are looking for and can select it from...

Fuzzy search is useful if you have a ton of files, spread out in different directories. That directory full of documents you've collected, and partially sorted but it's mostly a jumbled mess. You know you have it, but can only remember a partial...

Oh right, if ventoy has in the past worked with previous FreeBSD releases, its possibly not this then. I don't believe anything substantial has changed in the way install images are made.

It's not clear to me what's involved with that, but 15.0 is the last FreeBSD release that is currently listed as tested. Possibly, the easiest thing to do with ventoy is either wait for 15.1 support to be fixed and working or install 15.0 and...

It's mostly useful for longer directory names, especially ones that came prenamed with annoying characters. There are a few limitations and the longer the list it has to sift through the longer it takes and more likely it is to give up. However...

Once you're too the machine on which the service is running, there's not much point in encrypting the bit after it hits the ethernet card as if they've managed to get that last bit, they've already compromised things enough that securing the bit...

Yes, and if you can narrow a path name to a unique pattern that things like: "cd *cke*" can get you into a directory rather quickly. I only had one folder named docker that matched that, so it works out. However, if I had more than one match, it...

Filename completion is a feature of the shell, not the filesystem. If the shell supports it, it won't matter what filesystem, UFS. ZFS, ext2/3/4, FAT, etc. That said, tcsh comes with a bunch of example custom completions, including ZFS specific...

TBH, most of the time that's fine, where T-Aoki 's advice is helpful is that it's good to know what is missing as sometimes it's indicative of software that you don't need or want anymore still being installed. I can personally see that...

Be careful about that. If you do a pkg delete -fa that will also remove all of the base system files up until it gets to the point where it can't continue sort of a like a slightly less dangerous version of rm -rf / . Not that I've ever tried to...

Says who? Don't think this has anything to do with a chroot, it's a filesystem separation, not process, not network, nothing else besides a filesystem limitation. Bad DNS server, overloaded DNS server or a clock that's way too far out of sync.
  • SirDice
No, the problem is that the OP actually did it once to many. The third, and final, freebsd-update install removes all the old libraries from the previous version (libssl.so.30 is from 14.x). Ideally you'd run install twice (to upgrade the kernel...

Yeah, you can't switch branches on a shallow clone. It's way easier to nuke the directory and do a clean "full" checkout of the sources. Nothing is worth saving except your custom kernel config.
  • SirDice
You can't use freebsd-update to upgrade to 16.0-CURRENT, it only allows -RELEASE versions, not -STABLE, not -CURRENT. So that's impossible to have happened. I'm betting you cloned the source tree without switching branches, i.e. you checked out...

freebsd-update fetch is for patch updates, not version upgrades. freebsd-update {...} upgrade only downloads what is needed, sets up various merges and basically prepares for the upgrade, it does NOT install or modify anything yet.

TUI also doesn't slag around the emulated VESA framebuffer over VNC or on a desktop VM client. A TUI install is able to run over serial port, which means the client has normal, native copy paste. I don't know of easy way to "share clipboard" when...

What version of FreeBSD? Because it exists on 14, 15 and 16.

The version of DRM dictates which graphics cards are supported. The DRM drivers depend on LinuxKPI support that's built into the FreeBSD kernel. https://forums.freebsd.org/threads/intel-gpu-support-matrix.102846/
