Can anyone shed any light on these lines that I found in dmesg:-
[13] acpi_wmi0: <ACPI-WMI mapping> on acpi0
[13] acpi_wmi0: cannot find EC device
[13] acpi_wmi0: Embedded MOF found

I created a "gparted".
Here a screenshot,
Sidenote, dependencies,
ldd ./gparted
./gparted:
libexecinfo.so.1 => /usr/lib/libexecinfo.so.1 (0x3b942c22b000)
libdl.so.1 => /usr/lib/libdl.so.1 (0x3b942c7d3000)
libthr.so.3 =>...
the partitition and the pool / dataset were autoresized at boot. dunno if that is default behaviour or some cloudinit scripts did that. i was prepared to resize the partition myself but it was just done
Since how long?
But that does not extend the fs. One could mount 100 GB.
I have an ubuntu instance running boinc for an interesting project, a freebsd with no loaded.
Since about two months? No problem jet.
Unfortunately boinc-client package...
Run an program called "stress": stress-1.0.4_2
To run stress for 15 seconds every 15 minutes you would add the following
to your crontab (crontab -e):
*/15 * * * * stress -c 1 -t 15
My instance has been running this way for 300+...
With Frankfurt no way. I ended with two small AMD with 1000 MB Ram and 50 GB disk each.
I also have a managed MySQL db with 50 GB and still 50 GB for something else.
In order to keep them, you must have a certain load. What do you do?
And yes...
You don't need a ports tree if you only install packages.
When you install a port/package that has a default configuration file it will always be installed as *.sample, it will only create the non-sample named file if it doesn't already exist...
When a jail starts it will automagically add its IP as an alias to the interface and removes it when the jail stops. You do not need to "pre-assign" them. Just remove all those aliases and make sure it's properly set up in your jail.conf.
And I...

Being perfectly happy with Win95/98?
That's just sick.
Seriously,
I don't see the point anymore.
For you FreeBSD is for NAS and other severs, only, and else just way too much tinkering. OK.
You already made up your mind to use some turn-key...
Did it ever invent or construct something that has an approveable market value? I don't think so...
The problem also starts with a bogus term. AI? What are we talking about? Logic processing of bit sequences with a GPU projection system is the...
Good catch! That only works at boot. A fix is to create /etc/dhclient-exit-hooks as follow:
#!/bin/sh

# File : /etc/dhclient-exit-hooks
if [ "${interface}" != "re0" ] ; then
exit

There must be a somehow constant feed of "value data" that comes from people donating their creative thoughts by publication on AI think-services. If you rely on AI-generated knowledge for everything, you're losing points at originality and value...
Take a piece of the SSD space for the 2nd OS, Only boot from USB, then mount the SSD filesystem as / and forget the stick.
My daily custom FreeBSD USB install boots from a stick and then forgets where it booted from. You can pkg install into the...
If USB boot works, you can boot the FreeBSD installer stick and install to a 2nd stick.
When finished, change /etc/fstab, so that it tries the 1st USB drive da0 which was da1 during the installation. It's usually slower than a disk but there are...
Who has a phone that runs native *BSD, accepts some USB keyboard, real display and is able to make a real phone call on a mobile network? I've never heard of it. What's the price?
For some reaon my system, ThinkPad W520 with 16GB RAM running FreeBSD 15.1 has suddenly become unusable slow.
Chrome does doe not start up at all.
Is there anything I can check to see what is going on.
TOP does not show any processes hogging...
Yes you read it correctly. The fabulous ZFS Boot Environments – more about them here – https://is.gd/BECTL – if you are not familiar with this concept – are now also possible on UFS filesystems on FreeBSD. Of course in little different form and...
I prefer the service pf reload approach. Internally this checks that there are no syntax errors in /etc/pf.conf (or the pf_rules path if set in rc.conf) and then loads (pfctl -f $pf_rules) it.
Note that established TCP connections are not...

From a last week's game:
The artifacts are not so impressive, but the army is quite useful. 😁
Also enough spell points (pointless to pick Intelligence, though, but the other choice had been Ballistics for the last skill.)
And of course she can...
