This is what I had to do though I actually uninstalled it and reinstalled after going through the rest of the upgrade process cause 15.1 would only start with a page fault.

Is Firefox installable from pkg now? pkg search on ARM64 (aarch64 :p) RPi 15.1 doesn't show anything, and ESR was missing/fallout for a week or 2 AMD64 iirc
Edit: esr was available no problem amd64 15.1-STABLE :D
A system that supports such thing would be serlous competition to all individual storage products. Many small m.2 SSD's on 1 board with failsafe redundancy so only PSU loss can take it all down, why not?
USB storage does a different trick: push...
As far as I understood the changes in Wine 11.0, those aren't needed any more. The FreeBSD port of Wine might not do the right thing yet though.

Never upgrade your zpools.
If there really is a new feature you want, do it step-by-step. Update bootloader, try bootloader, consider other OSes which you might want to access this pool etc.
I would suggest disabling the DRM driver during the upgrade. That way it won't interfere or cause problems during the upgrade. Once you have the base OS completely upgraded you can focus on upgrading packages, including any from the kmods...
I have a 16-current that wants Wine, with 32 bit Wine. The old scripts recommended when you start Wine don't work anymore since no 32 bit FreeBSD packages are being built.
So I guess I have to set up a 32 bit jail or VM and build Wine myself...

Well, I upgraded my secondary machine, which went fine. As mentioned, that headless one wasn't upgrading, so I just edited its /usr/local/etc/pkg/repos/FreeBSD.conf to match the one that upgraded successfully, then it pulled in the necessary...
Why are you jailing a browser?
Once that jail has all the permissions it needs to have a 2026 web experience it has absolutely no security benefits over a limited user account.
This is akin to security case of the Steam client, install it and...
Neither mergemaster, or etcupdate will do anything in /usr/local/etc/ or /etc/rc.conf.
Installing Xorg (x11/xorg) doesn't create an xorg.conf file, not in /etc/X11 nor in /usr/local/etc/X11/. That configuration file always had to be created...

Graphics support in FreeBSD has reached a milestone with the drm-kmod port now including the Linux 6.12 (LTS) graphics driver. This version of the port works with FreeBSD 15.1 onwards.

We all know such places, don't we?
I just ordered some of the coffee mugs, leaving them in the office kitchen and waiting for feedback...

Basically, the older and the slower (smaller in pipelines and VRAMs), the cheaper (with some exceptions).
So choosing from between The 580.xxdriver supports the following set of GPUs: line and The 470.xxdriver supports the following set of GPUs...

1 problem that starts there is the unclear difference between /etc and /usr/local/etc. Not all ports handle it the same, so you have to look at it per port. /etc/X11/xorg.conf? I don't remember X.org being a base component...
You simply have to collect a definive source base and describe all changes you want to keep in the universal end result. My experience is that the default settings of a lot aren't consistent enough to skip explicit configuration. Generating an...
Thanks for your effort! My fault to copy two unnecessary and confusing lines in my post. 🙄 I tried freebsd-update as regular user:
dvl@mybsd:~ % freebsd-update upgrade -r 15.1-RELEASE
freebsd-update: Directory does not exist or is not writable...
Thanks everyone for your help! In the end I managed to watch movies on Netflix and Crunchyroll.
By downloading Brave through FreeBSD's Linux compatibility layer, I installed it with:
doas pkg install brave-linux
It is. But a bug in freebsd-update will cause this issue. So you need to be on 13.5-RELEASE-p5 to avoid getting bitten by this bug.

Good question IMO.
Ok... ZFS is - as I like to call it - an "evolving filesystem", meaning so much that new features get added to the system as time goes by. But as you can imagine: those new features in the core mechanics don't "magically"...
