Reading the upgrading docs about upgrade loader bios, and I'm not sure what the following means:
...bootstrap upgrades are optional unless a ZFS root pool is upgraded...
How to tell if the ZFS root pool is upgraded or not?!
I have ZFS but...
IMHO: As long as we don't bring back some ancient methods of dealing with such individuals (pick one) - what good would that do?
I'd bet the track leads to a country that does not do anything about such things, so you won't be able to get your...
$250,000 to have a proprietary program process an open source projects. Perhaps money well spent. Perhaps money unwisely squandered.
Reminds me of a quote from Star Trek.
"We are the Borg. Lower your shields and surrender your ships. We will...

It looks like the Alpha Omega project is under the Linux Foundation.
Alpha Omega has a $7million a year budget, according to the link. It's likely funded by corporate backers.
Considering that, it looks like money well spent, unless, they play...

My count 0f 128GB and 256GB is 40 or so of many generations. The speed would be irrelevant if I could use them all in 1 system.
This is what I'm talking about. They break in 1 time and are barely useable in large amounts combined. They are...
I have SSD's too. But they aren't what they technically could be because that would extend their usability to the point where so much space is broken and marked bad that there's no value left. That's a real high age. It happens immediately if the...
Due to spambot abuse, FreshPorts.org has recently started requiring having an account to use the search feature.
This of course can be circumvented by searching through a third-party search engine using the site: search operator and taking...

Well, yeah. Those are exactly the two points of why there are HOL:
No need to fumbling with assembler language
Having portable source code. It's the job of the compiler (or interpreter, or VM) to make it run on the according architecture. Those...
Of course not, because all what's C about it, is this:
void hal_timerSchedInit(void)
{
// Set up timer1 interrupt for scheduler
|= ()( << ); // CTC mode
= ;
|= ()( << );
}
Because

Could there be a list of the least expensive desktop graphic cards of the -580 variants that FreeBSD users have effortlessly setup and are in use?
www/falkon became unusable here with a -390/Xorg bump, over a year ago IIRC.

It looks to me like they only needed to have some decent fingerprinting system on all of their acknowledged source providers to make sure that a few trying to distribute malware via official channels always get noticed because their files differ.
Dunno, I've been running on this 'consumerist scam' since 2012, and I still have that SSD, it's still running and booting, and it went through more OS reinstalls and re-formats than I care to count. Hell, I'm planning to use that same SSD to play...
These songs take me back... it seems like yesterday. Great pop band...
Whoever wrote their songs, was some kind of genius.

FWIW here is one list of compromised packages:
https://md.archlinux.org/s/SxbqukK6IA
Nothing I'd need on there. Maybe if I was heavy on node.js. Looks like Arch's base repositories have most of what I use from FreeBSD ports or Debian and I...
Some searches on their collaboration with Valve, Microsoft and Intel might be interesting. I'm not opinionated about this already but I'm going to follow this intensively.
Ddos is distributed overload of a TCP/IP server with (preferably complex) bogus requests. What has this too narrow supply chain as weakness to do with it?
UPDATE : I have enabled the SMP support for FreeBSD guest OS,virtualized with qemu-bhyve and I've launched some benchmarks.
System:
CPU : Intel Core i9-9900K (8C/16T, base 3.6 GHz)
Host OS : FreeBSD 16.0-CURRENT (amd64)
Guest OS: FreeBSD...
Try setting the write speed to 24X, or something else lower than the maximum. Use the configuration file in /usr/local/etc/ so this doesn't have to be set on the command line each time.
When I lowered the speed from the maximum, cd's burned...
The problem is that while this leak is not exclusive of FreeBSD, it isn't present on every distro; IIRC Arch was not affected, in example.
I'll try with Kubuntu, let's see what happens. :)
:cool: Anyone with children is always in a hurry. I only have an hour or two a day to get things done. That’s why I thought it would be a good idea to do the upgrade now.
But you are right. Now I will wait until June, 15th and start a new thread...
I doubt it. SSD's are already at max controller performance. Only physically rotating disks can take advantage of scheduled read and write operations because the non-linear round discs lose time on the head operations. On a SSD everything is...
I have the suspicion that it's intentional to push for identification facilities around the end-user. Wait for it... They can't verify a user's authenticity without forced centrai supervision. The end user can no longer be root, like on Android...
As mentioned, my laptop automatically updated to RELEASE. However, a headless machine I have, that wouldn't be a disaster if I had to reinstall, though I'd rather not of course, was also updated to RC3. However, though its config seems to be the...

Now it's better than expected :D My websites load a little faster from a RPi4 SD card and FreeBSD 15.1 than openSUSE TW on an Ivybridge laptop with SSD
That would be graphics/drm-kmod, not graphics/drm-latest-kmod.
graphics/drm-kmod has some logic to 'automagically' pick a version:
.if ${OPSYS} != FreeBSD
IGNORE= not supported on anything but FreeBSD (missing linuxkpi functionality)
.else
...
I don't know if this is useful information or not, but I have had pretty good luck burning CDs and DVDs within FreeBSD using Brasero. I think that Brasero gives you the ability to turn the speed of the burner down (to avoid buffer under run) and...

There's an updated version, released in 2019. It has a slightly smaller case, and doesn't have a HD anymore. It has a slightly better CPU, but other than that it's mostly identical. I have that one too. I liked the Shield so much I bought another...
SirDice Same here but mine's about three years old. However I've read that it's probably the same hardware you still have and they have no need to upgrade it.
Or various (certified) Android TV devices, like the NVidia Shield.
The NVidia Shield is great. Bought one 10-15 years ago? Can't remember exactly, but I still get regular OS updates for it. Most smartphones or tablets don't get that kind of support.
