If you want to discuss software development on FreeBSD (as opposed to using Windows, Mac, or Linux), then SO is not a bad place to ask a question like that. You can get pointers and gotchas that would probably be lost on the users that frequent the Forums here. But in the end, it's still on you to make actual use of the information you get, no matter the place.
