Other [Wayland] Hyprland 0.49.0 Update Breaks Everything

Hey, Just reaching out to anyone using Hyprland to see if the latest update on May 9th caused problems for anyone else. Launching after the update results in Alacritty starting but not taking any keystrokes. This is followed by a dialog "Application not responding" (new for Hyprland 0.49.0) that fails to accept mouse clicks. Chromium completely locks up at launch. Sorry I don't have more information at the moment. I am running FreeBSD:14:latest AMD64. --- I just wanted to add that I've been running Hyprland for probably close to 2 years without issue.

I've reached out to the maintainer and am waiting to hear back. In the mean time what I did was:
  • removed hyprland 0.49.0
  • followed by pkg autoremove
  • edited /etc/pkg/FreeBSD.conf changed latest->quarterly
  • installed hyprland 0.48.1
  • changed back to latest repo
  • locked several packages

λ pkg info -ak | grep yes
aquamarine-0.8.0 yes
hyprgraphics-0.1.2 yes
hyprland-0.48.1 yes
hyprland-qtutils-0.1.3 yes
hyprlang-0.6.0_3 yes
hyprutils-0.5.2 yes

I'm not sure if this is the cleanest way to downgrade a package but I wasn't able to fix the issues with the new version of hyprland.

i m on 15-CURRENT with custom kernel i m running hyprland-0.48.1_2from my poudriere build. its working.mpv is not working. at times when exiting hyprland, it crashes.

Your issue doesn't apply to this thread. However I also have Hyprland crashing on exit. There was an issue reported in 2023 that was marked as fixed issue #1744. Maybe start a discussion on github re the issue.

Hey, the maintainer rolled the package back to 0.48.1 and they are looking into the issue. Are you still running 0.49.0? If so just uninstall and re-install 0.48.1. Hopefully they can get it sorted out.
I rolled back sometime ago backing up 0.48 package just in case
