the Internet is not working, but the DNS resolves the names

I work from my laptop and I get Internet from my phone, but yesterday it stopped working, although I didn't do anything with it. Now I have dns names resolved, but the packets are not coming

Host command returns ipv4 and ipv6 addr. Wget return "failed: operation timed" for ipv4 out and "no route to host" to ipv6

Chances are that you got cut off tethering by the carrier.

To what do hostnames resolve? Is it perhaps the same address as your gateway? You might be hitting a captive portal

Can you access the internet from phone?

If your mobile data plan is limited, check data quota to see if it has been exceeded.
