In the handbook section Managing Jails with ezjail, it is demonstrated how to setup a jail.
From 14.6.1. Installing ezjail: (just below the reddish subsection), it says:

Installing ezjail consists of adding a loopback interface for use in jails, installing the port or package, and enabling the service.

I understand that a single loopback interface is to be created (by cloning) and then used by multiple jails. -- as opposite to creating a new clone for each new jail.
Correct?

You can do either one actually, it's up to you. But in the interest of simplicity it's probably better to stick to one interface.
