You can just use the search engine of your choice for the port you want and "freshports" and you'll usually get a link to the information page, so you can still access that information if you want to (I do). The login process will stop the site being overloaded with crawlers (ab)using the search functionality.

It's not being catered to. It's finding the needs and wants of the majority. If one behaves differently than the rest they will be treated differently. If one wants to fit in, one needs to find the norm of the majority.
