It's not because the molecular bindings of the wall minerals and human tissue can withstand pressure because it's always divided over multiple proximity points (electron shells) and directions? Similar on large scale: a sand bag being bullet proof?
I wonder if it makes a difference if you hit a wall that's made of forward pointing synthesized chains of similar atoms...
