Randomize hostname?

Something like Wifi MAC randomize on connect, but for the system hostname.

There's a chain here that seems to have a few ways to generate a name and to pass it to rc.conf, but I'm wondering if there's other ways?

In rc.conf you pass the hostname permanently, and It will be applied after reboot.
If you want hostname to be changed everytime (I don't know why), you can do it via hostname command.

Something like:


hostname $(cat /dev/urandom | base64 | tr -dc 'a-zA-Z0-9' | head -c 10)
