Please beware of www.freebsdsoftware.org - it contains AI slop

Just want to make FreeBSD users aware: The site www.freebsdsoftware.org has a lot of "plausible-looking" information, but most of it is completely wrong. It seems to be an AI slop site.

For example: hxxp://www.freebsdsoftware.org/blog/freebsd-gaming-2026.html

it says to "pkg install dxvk". There is no such package. There is also no package called "mesa-mesa-vulkan-intel".

The site is pure slop. Sadly, search results put it above the FreeBSD Handbook. Please make sure you get your documentation from the proper places.

Oops. That was the creation date of the registrar 🤦‍♂️

Anyway, gone through a bunch of old posts, if it was a reference to a port, replaced it with our regular [port]....[/port], if it was a blog post, broke the link http -> httpx.
 
Unrelated but thought I'd post it here.
I have a 8ft by 14ft garden area in my backyard. Never had luck planting anything there so, just to try it, I asked chatgpt to give me some planting ideas along with an image. In my original question I told it there was full sun in the afternoon but then modified it to allow for the rabbits and squirrels chewing on everything.

Chatgpt forgot some parts in the original question. I went to a local nursery that offered a free design service and showed them the plants and layout. "Uh," she said. "You realize this is way too crowded and two of these are shade only plants?"
 
Came across some explanation while editing an old post (~2009), didn't pay much attention to it hunting for the links. Now I can't find that post anymore. Will try to dig it up again.

Edit: Scratch that. No explanation, site reportedly crashed Firefox at some point in time. Malware on the site was suspected but never found. No idea who created it or for what reason. Did consistently show old and outdated ports information (wayback machine). Still does (their ports information is at least a couple of months behind).

I'm ok with 'using' LLMs for certain tasks. For example grammar and other suggestions for the author. (Despte it paying directly into the pockets of American fascism...)

But generating all the content with LLMs entirely is despicable. The information is completely unreliable and all that person did was waste tons of energy and learning exactly NOTHING while doing so.

EDIT: The website in questions here is clearly completely generated. With cross references and sections that make no sense. Even the CSS/Styling is obviously the first one that the LLM came up with. They all look like that. Whoever put his nonsense online is a complete waste of oxygen.
 
Looks like text content that's a random selection already puublic content.
Who's going to scroll through it all?

Websites with technical content should not be using AI. AI gets that stuff wrong half the time.
Now, if the author has problems writing English because it's not their native language, then it's fair if they use AI to fix their grammar and stuff, but this site's AI output nonsense including "pkg install" command lines which have packages that don't exist on them.

That is completely wrong and a gross misuse of AI.

model collapse, which is something anyone who played with markov-chain bots on IRC could have predicted. put two of them together and they loop into fixed-points in their training data.

then they have to completely dump it all and start from scratch, costing them a lot of money and ruining their whole business model.
That's why one should stop adding garbage like captchas or that annoying weeb-filter which only p*ss of humans and start using things like e.g. www/iocaine which actively poisons AI scrapers with endless amounts of 'plausible garbage'.
