Hello there.

¿How I can download a nightly release of FreeBSD?
Nightly FreeBSD builds are not provided.

Most you can get are weekly snapshots of 13.5-STABLE, 14.2-STABLE, 15.0-CURRENT, but these branches are for testing (13, 14) and development (15), they are not targeted for production use. See https://www.freebsd.org/where/ under "Development and Testing".

¿How I can install the Pantheon desktop on FreeBSD?

A "Pantheon desktop on FreeBSD" has been worked on by Olivier Duchateau (forums user olivierd), but it looks like there was no activity since Feb 2024 on the repository, and the repo has been archived. You could try from that repo to install.

See wiki for installation instructions.

There is a Pantheon screenshot posted here in forums by olivierd, desktop running on 13.1-RELEASE.

The Pantheon 8.0 desktop is already ported to FreeBSD. My new repository calls freebsd-elementary. Currently wayland support is not working (it is not complete in x11-wm/mutter, it requires lot of work), only x11.

A better screenshot is available here.

Note: gala (the window manager) is build against mutter 46.x (not in ports collection). So if you want to build whole desktop, you must upgrade several GNOME core libraries.

olivierd first thanks for all your efforts to port some new and keep some desktop-specific stuff up to date !
Do you know if there are plans to update the GNOME stack on FreeBSD (actually 42.x) which is 2-3 years behind current? I mean all the GLib, GTK stuff is mostly part of the GNOME project and is used by nearly all DE. I cant see much activity by @gnome in the last year. But Im not so familar with the subject.

Well package management on FreeBSD is a little bit different than on Linux. While on FreeBSD the 3rd-party software repo is single-sourced (prebuild ports) there is much more diversity on Linux (e.g. aur, copr).
So you have to clone the repo, merge it into your ports tree and build all required stuff manually. Your best bet might be
ports-mgmt/poudriere.
