Solved Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-6.1.28-147628.vbox-extpack install error

Hello everybody...


When I try to install Extension Pack VirtualBox:

I get the following error:
vboxmanage extpack install --replace /home/hbbf/Downloads/virtualbox/Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-6.1.28-147628.vbox-extpack

When trying to install or uninstall via xwindow, the following error appears:
The installer failed with exit code 127: Error getting authority: Error initializing authority: Could not connect: No such file or directory.

What did you need from the extension pack? Perhaps we can find an alternative.

As far as I know, everything can be replaced other than USB 2.0+ emulation.
 
OP didn't ask for it, kpedersen's question is irrelevant to the issue he's having. He asked why it's not working he got the answer. It's up to him if he asks more to the topic or considers it solved. I personally don't care if the thread is marked as solved ; I pointed out it's not "nothing" when it comes to my answer.
 
I need some infrequent emulations on Windows 98 and XP. I'll check if it's really necessary. Thank you all.

I think that would be a very "IT Services" style definition of solved. Nothing has actually been achieved. No real solution has been found.

Instead I would recommend exploring other extension packs such as VNC if that (or RDP support) was the OP's reason behind requiring the extension pack.
