Hello everyone.

Just to inform you that the Dell Precision 7560 works very well on FreeBSD.
I could try one.

Here are the specs of this laptop :
- CPU : Xeon X-11855
- GPU : Nvidia RTX A4000

Wifi is ok
Ethernet is ok
GUI is ok (with nvidia-driver. Nvidia GPU is on PCI:1:0:0 - for the xorg file)
Integrated Webcam is ok
Sound/microphone are ok
Obviously : no resume (laptop stops) and no bluetooth

Here is the pciconf -lv output :

16 GB DDR3 RAM
Intel HD4000 + Nvidia Geforce 610M - not sure if the Nvidia really works, even though neofetch says its the GPU when plugged into HDMI.
Intel HD Audio works
HDMI+audio works
Gigabit Ethernet works
Card reader works - didn't originally
zzz works - didn't originally - although machine does not sleep when lid closed, just turns off the screen.
backlight works - didn't originally
Wireless works - swapped non supported module (probably was a broadcom) for an intel one.
DVD Drive/burner works
USB 3.0 ports work
Touchpad works
12 year old battery still holds a decent charge.

Thinkpad x270 (14-rc4), everything works including bluetooth and suspend + resume and excellent battery life, only problem was brightness goes to 100% after connect/disconnect charger fixed by editing

/usr/ports/graphics/drm-515-kmod/work/drm-kmod-drm_v5.15.118_2/drivers/gpu/drm/i915/display/intel_opregion.c

add add this ifdef to it

    struct intel_connector *connector;
    struct drm_connector_list_iter conn_iter;
    struct opregion_asle *asle = dev_priv->opregion.asle;
    struct drm_device *dev = &dev_priv->drm;

    drm_dbg(&dev_priv->drm, "bclp = 0x%08x\n", bclp);

Everything works with "FreeBSD 14.1-RELEASE releng/14.1-n267679-10e31f0946d8 GENERIC amd64" under Xorg / Lightdm / Mate .

The only problem I have is that after a suspend/resume cycle (which always works) my keyboard layout reverts to the default US and I lose the GPU acceleration capabilities until I restart Xorg. To be fair, I had the layout problem also under Linux/LxQt (but not under Plasma 6).

New test this morning, with a beast of a machine this time:

GIGABYTE AORUS 16X ASG 2024 (Core i9-14900HX)

  • Keyboard : YES
  • Touchpad: NO. Despite trying everything, I couldn’t get it to work. USB/mouse.
  • Wi-Fi : YES
  • USB-C : YES
  • Webcam : YES
  • Ethernet : YES
  • USB 3... : YES
  • Graphics : OK (put "discrete" on Switchable Graphics in the UEFI)
  • Sound/Microphone : NO, neither through the speakers nor the 3.5mm jack. Again, despite trying everything, I couldn't get it to work.
    However, sound works via HDMI. Use USB/jack adapter

Not so bad for a new laptop

The test is available on bsd-hardware.info:

RAM 8 GB
nvd0 256 GB
UHD Graphics 615
1366x768 touch display works with X11/Gnome
WiFi works (Intel Wireless 8265)
Backlight works (std backlight)
Trackpad work
Suspend/Resume works
Sound works
Some Fn-F5 Fn-F6 don't work - brightness controls
Gnome / Firefox / Thunderbird / Chrome on linux (Netflix) - all well
I have thinkpad x1 yoga g5 and brightness control work with acpi_ibm and devd script, maybe this laptop the same.
On my laptop work all (webcam, micro, touch, pen, sound, bluetooth, wifi, light, trackpad, trackpoint with scroll) without accelerometer sensor !!!!, this sad, i can't find sensor in usb hub, or another for writing drivers(
