Music with the beep command

I was reading the man page for beep(1), and I discovered that you can beep at a set frequency and duration. Then I thought it could be possible to make a shell script to beep "music", and came across the idea that you could also even use mixer(8) to play the beeps at different volumes! I'm no good at musical stuff myself, but if anyone manages to make anything coherent out of this, then please post it here! I'm surprised that no one has discussed this before! I guess this could be the logical, even more constrained successor to chiptune on the Atari TIA, or it may just be me trying to fill time. 🤷‍♂️

Wow! I was more thinking of like a one minute chiptune piece, like something someone would release on their website, with someone then playing it, recording it, and then uploading it as 96kbps crap on youtube with no attribution. ;)

As far as I know, beep(1) isn't bound to the "pc speaker" thing and you can hear it from your speakers or headphones. There are a few musics that you can play to test pc speaker if you have one, see spkrtest(8).
