Man Compression Issue

I'm trying to update a very out of date port, and I'm currently having an issue with getting the man pages to compress. They are located in ${PREFIX}/share/man/man1 and man7 respectively. I can install them as a post-install action from the ${WRKSRC}, but then I have orphaned files in STAGEDIR. Anyone have a suggestion?
 
Please update pkg-plist.
For example, devel/z80-asm

No, my plist files seems to be correct. The error I got from port test said that all of my other files in pkg-plist were not found.
