Plenty of counter-examples in animes if you actually watch them. Even old-school stuff features that. Not completely sideways, but definitely with a lean to the side.
Didn't apple ditched rainbow logo 9 years before first iPhone? If user put it there themselves, it's a good chance that they also did jailbreak on in, which will make it more into apple produce than Apple product category
I actually jailbroke the iPod Touch 1st and second gen back in the day. Nowadays, the guy that came up with the jailbreak, George Hotz, he's an engineer with AMD (and making some trouble there, as well). But back to my jailbreaking story: I thought that jailbreaking the Apple devices would get me the control I want. Turned out nope, it was still a mess underneath, and being able to install cracked apps did not solve my problems (that I had at the time) as much as I hoped. TBH, I never owned iPhone, furthest I went with hacking Apple (not counting Hacintoshes and custom made DSTD's on other x86) was back in PowerPC/Open Firmware days playing "Towers of Hanoi" as per Amit Singh guide in the Mac OS X Internals: A Systems Approach
