I am looking to monitor MariaDB and Apache server's (lot's of sub-domains and logs). Nagios appeared to be the solution; however when I contacted Nagios; it's a free trial on Nagios XI.

The two ports I looked at here on FreeBSD are the following:

https://www.freshports.org/net-mgmt/nagios/

and

https://www.freshports.org/net-mgmt/nagios4

Do any of these install a non XI (trial version) and offer an older version perhaps that was once truly free?

Thanks!

I am running Nagios Core 4.4.1, didn't cost me a penny.

It's like a lot of open source projects nowadays, there's two versions, the regular open source version with community support and a paid for version that has professional support.

Have you checked out Icinga2?
I just did after reading your response to my thread. Thank you! I will most certainly give this a look thoroughly. I checked the homepage and browsed a few screenshots and am impressed. Much obliged for a solid alternative!

Thank you for confirming you are running Nagios Core 4.4.1 without limitations. Appreciate the assurance in our ports!

All the best!
