Is this the bottom line, answer to the question in the post overall: addDriver "intel" or Driver "modesetting" in /etc/X11/xorg.conf . Then see if anti-aliasing can be set on from the xfce4-terminal (to-do) and read the Handbook section 5.6.3 about the fonts (to-do).Any further help is of course appreciated.
