FreeBSD Metalheads

Haha, yeah, The Sweet are mostly remembered for their early 70's charts pop songs. Many people don't know they also wrote a lot of 'Heavy' songs. :-)
I had a tape from an older friend which was all Sweets heavy stuff, I still remember the shock when I heard Wigwam bam! I couldn't fit the two together 😂

Black Sabbath, along with Deep Purple, were really the originators of Heavy rock, which was also called 'heavy metal' at the time. Later on "heavy metal" or just "metal" came to be applied to other things, but really Sabbath were the first. Deep purple are up there too, but I think Sabbath were the heaviest. Their best work was what they did with Ozzy, before he went off to the US to be a superstar. Once the band split, it was never the same, and I didn't think all that much of what Ozzy did in the US either, some of it was almost like a caricature of the real thing. These four songs below, are the real thing.

i'm not sure anyone's making this kind of music today. I have tried listening to some of the 'death metal' type stuff from time to time, but its not the same, it's not what I would call 'Heavy'; it doesn't really do much for me.

All true, after that it was on for young and old!
