Death Penalty for Hackers?

Its so hard to catch these slimey people I wonder if the death penalty is an appropriate penalty for hacking?

These people are literally laughing out loud at the law. Hacking the FBI website to stop investigations.

Off with their heads. I personally would enjoy seeing some punk kids head being lopped off.


But alas we will slap thier little hand and let them go in a few years...
 
Attacking the FBI website to prevent a investigation requires a extraordinary response.

I say we start charging them with every single person affected by the hack.

So if you get over 1 Million Misdemeanors you can be fried.

Define hackers that should get this penalty.
at $WORK we had company emails harvested from a third party data breach that resulted in script kiddies banging on an openvpn web interface trying to brute force. Nothing got in, but resulted in effective DDOS to actual employees trying to use the VPN.

Who gets the penalties in this? The script kiddies, the original third party that had the breach?

I'm not disagreeing that there should be harsh penalties, but I'm looking for the definition/boundaries.
 
How about the general charge of Misuse of Communication Equipment.
It is a catchall for miscreants.

Should Mitnick have been fried is the threshold...
Can hackers ever be redeemed.
 
I wish people will learn that death ain't no penalty among civilized humans no matter how severe or terrible a crime is.
It's simply nothing but the blind act of rage of not thinking animals.
A country that executes death penalty is no democracy, no matter what they believe of themselves. And the loudest shouting of protest against this truth does not change it, but only proves it's still not understood.
 
Yeah, as Maturin said, this should be closed. The US government is notorious for false accusations, and the FBI under Patel has been shown to be fairly incompetent. If they execute the wrong person, what will they do. Say Sorry? And yes, this thread should be closed because it's only going to lead to bad feelings and has nothing to do with FreeBSD.

Vehemently disagree that death penalty is not a deterrent. When there are draconian consequences for "real crimes" and people are afraid of those consequences then crime goes down. I know, not the convenient euro-socialist position to take, but it works for me.

And is it interesting that you asked the thread to be closed "after" you expressed your opinion. Hmmm...

Laws only protect law-abiding citizens from themselves. They don't "stop" crime. There have to be brutal consequences.

This is not true, crime in the USA has never disappeared despite the death penalty and convictions for hundreds of years
 
Public lashing/flogging...as pain and shame are the best teacher and behavior corrector. For the kid and the parents. For every crime actually. But yeah, capital punishment should be automatic for repeat offense and certainly serious intentional harm or fraud.
We in Europe have spent centuries getting rid of every robber before he procreates (more). It all went to sh!t pretty quickly and is getting worse year by year.

Space station rules should apply - you poison the air, you are out of airlock.

Makes me very sad when victims or their close ones have to breath the same air as the perpetrators. And often they are out in few years and hurt someone else. WTF is that good for? Is it some exercise in false humanism?
Same goes for enabling those junkies in de facto suicide. Giving them food, shelter, money, metadon. Do you think they will reconsider their life choices when it is so easy? Do them a favor and beat them with a bamboo stick. At least some of them might reconsider their lifestyle. That would be more humane.


Hackers remind me of punks who go around parking lot, trying every car door handle and if they open it, they sometimes take a crap inside or mess with your stereo.

That ended with Jesus. He specifically cited that OT passage. Some have read it, and others have not.

I think that incorrigible criminals who continue to victimze other people even behind bars might be worthy candidates. But many would argue that supermaxes did away with that need. Whatever the case, death should always be the last resort.

I try all sorts of stuff to run localhost MMORPGs and servers on unsupported OSs :cool:

Meanwhile that's considered hacking, and the big companies behind those games as for-profits probably can't like it. Where's the limit? :-/
