Cinnamon in 2026

Anybody using Cinnamon as their DE in 2026? What's your experience? I tried it back in 2024, but it was kinda ugly and did work all that well.

I have it on a system that is on a usb enclosure.

I don't use it very often but it works quite well, on par with Xfce I think:

Its very minimal, I installed leafpad and sakura because it doesn't come with a text editor nor a terminal emulator like Xfce does.

My roots are in windows.

The XFCE environment reminds me of the Good Old Days of Win7: simple, clean and high performance.

I don’t want the glitz and eye candy of Win8 and up, nor the glitz of Cinnamon and the others trying to imitate windows eye candy.
