Solved Attempting to use Cinnamon as WM

Want: Cinnamon to use as my WM
Have: XCFE4 - meh it's ok, it works with stability but not grace.
What happens:
I added the following to my ~/.xinitrc
exec /usr/local/bin/cinnamon
cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | nc termbin.com 9999
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Right now I'm seeing a blank desktop, panel at bottom, no icons for anything and a screen resolution with fonts so small I have to get 1' from the TV to read what little there is.

Maybe try to exec cinnamon-session instead of cinnamon.
13.1-BETA3 that definitely doesn't work for me. These ones work.

Code:
$ cat .xinitrc
# exec ck-launch-session mate-session
 exec /usr/local/bin/cinnamon
# exec /usr/local/bin/gnome-session
# exec /usr/local/bin/startxfce4 --with-ck-launch
$

Still some bugs, though.

Google is not helping me sort the network-manager applet problem. pkg installer says it is all there.

So network-manager is MIA. Users and Groups non-functional presumably permissions somewhere. Date and time applet won't read time zone locality - presumably also permission somewhere. HP printer setup won't read PPD file despite me having permissions. Presumably cinnamon is using some other user id....need some clues....

HP printer via HPLIP requires /etc/rc.conf to contain cupsd_enable="YES".

gnome_enable="YES" OTOH stops GDM from running at all. My current guess is that functionality of gnome_enable to access restricted system settings by Gnome and Cinnamon applets is required, but broken.

Slim is less functional than GDM. XFCE4 has no access to restricted system settings. So plugging on with Cinnamon. Netflix works! https://forums.FreeBSD.org/threads/netflix.62486/post-561944
