Now compiling chromium, it will take around 20 hours.

That is what I always hear.I respectfully disagree. Your freedom is usually far less infringed than those offended.
The RAMageddon monster strikes again! The Beelinks, before the AI bubble, were reasonable. I have one with 32 GB of memory, and a year ago, it was under $400. (Although Beelink by default uses 4GB of memory for the GPU, so, figure 28GB memory. Don't know if that would be enough. But I just looked at their site and things seem *a lot* more expensive now. And on Amazon (US) around $500 USD and up.
That depends on the number of cores (make -j X). Each parallel compile thread will needs somehing vaguely about up to 2GB.To be honest, I'm really surprised 16GB isn't enough to compile some code. What is it that you're building?!
None taken. We're good online friends. I regret taking this thread off subject but a previous comment triggered it for no known reason.drhowarddrfine, though we disagree on this, I hope you realize that it isn't an attack on you, it's a respectful disagreement with your point of view here.
I think that a)as I've said before, many members here are older, and a bit less concerned about showing how tough we are. Just a guess on my part, not an educated explanation. It's a good sign that we're able to discuss this kind of stuff without starting with the flame wars, "welcome to my kill-file", "ignoring you now", etc. This is a good forum. If you guys can put up with my rants... well, that takes a lot of forbearance.
