Or maybe I'm misunderstanding what's supposed to be happening. Here's what I've done for this test:
1. Look at my datasets
root@nightmaremoon:~ # zfs list
NAME USED AVAIL REFER MOUNTPOINT
backup2 1.69T 3.57T 1.69T /mnt/backup2
data 5.82T 1.21T...
I am in the rescue mode on an OVH server, meaning the partition of my server is not mounted but it is supposed to be available to be mounted.
root@rescue:~# lsblk -f
NAME FSTYPE LABEL UUID MOUNTPOINT
Hello. I have a server with only 3 SSD, I want to run only PostgreSQL on it. But I don't have idea what options of ZFS to use for best performance. Did anyone here such a setup, and can give me a hint?
While creating a zfs filesystem by a delegated user works fine,
creating a zfs volume fails
# zfs allow mypool
---- Permissions on mypool --------------------------------------------
I recently set up Nextcloud in a jail using apache24, mariadb101 and php70 on FreeBSD 10.3.
After rebooting my server the jail will not come up correctly. It won't mount datasets and all the packages I installed and their configuration seems gone. pkg info only returns pkg.
I am stumped. I've been running a FreeBSD 9 server with ZFS for 5 years and have now done a completely fresh install of FreeBSD 11. Everything (meaning the pools layout) is configured as it was on the old system (as far as it was possible), but created from scratch.
The problem that I face is...
The new disc is now integrated in place of the failed one, and I now need to zero out the failed one before I exchange it.
Trying to mount the drive in my workstation box failed, which at first surprised me. But I supposed it was because it used to be part of a zfs mirror.
So I gpart deleted...
Hello, I am using zxfer to replicate/backup ZFS snapshots (created by zfSnap) to the backup server.
zxfer calls this commands internally (read dataset properties):
zfs get -Ho property, value, source all zroot
zfs get -Hpo property, value, source all zusbbackup/backups/pf-server/zroot
According to a post elsewhere by Phoenix, replacing a drive in a ZFS mirror is simple:
# zpool attach <poolname> <old drive> <new drive>
<wait for resilver to complete>
# zpool detach <poolname> <old drive>
But do I have to pass the drive through GPT first to create the scheme and partition...
Notably compression may be handled differently between the two, however wanted to know if anyone has reference or opinion as to whether one would expect these two issues that I've noticed: 1) difference in "consumption" and 2) constant creeping into swap space.
* consumption *
I installed FreeBSD 11 with encrypted ZFS from the official live CD. After using the system fine for some days, I changed something in /boot/loader.conf then can not boot. I searched and the way to recover is to boot from live CD and type:
# cd /tmp/
# mkdir mounted
# geli attach /dev/ada0p3
I have a weird situation where trying to receive an incremental stream generated with zfs send on a Linux system hangs. Specifically, it gets as far as processing the first snapshot, but not past that. The receive process is stuck in wait channel "rwa.cv", which I can't find any information...
Looking for some information on SMI-S support within FreeBSD. I’m looking at testing presenting some storage to SCVMM (System Centre Virtual Machine Manager) which uses SMI-S for automation etc.
If it’s supported I’ll go for ZFS and create some zpools and present some storage for...
Im trying to make an incremental backup of my zfs root pool from my laptop to an external usb drive as a live file system, rather like an rsync backup
im already using rsync to back up my home to a nas, and want to use zfs snapshots to back up root and child directories
In a nutshell i create...
I just performed a FreeBSD 11.0 install using the guided ZFS install option with encryption enabled.
After installing, I'd now like to add an additional set of disks to decrypt at boot-time, ideally, using the same process as the root drives.
Could anyone point me to the documentation as to...
FreeBSD Geli encrypted container
FreeBSD geli encrypted container with zfs, truecrypt replacement
Code on Github
Support for geli is available as a loadable kernel module. To configure the system to automatically load the module at boot time, add the following line to /boot/loader.conf...
I'm new to FreeBSD but I have experience with Linux distributions. I'm very happy with FreeBSD so far. I used the guided encryption zfs option also I have raidz with 4xHDD.
The encryption key is on boot pool at /boot/encryption.key, right? I also have encrypt every HDD with geli use new key and...
Hello, I am a newbie in FreeBSD and thus far I love FreeBSD more and more, especially because of the ZFS integration. But now I am stuck on a problem I do not understand.
I have two pools. A system pool called "rpool" on an SSD mirror and a data pool called "bigpool" on a bunch of Raid 10 HD's...
I'm looking for solution.
We have a storage with 60x4TB zfs pool wich split on three raidz2 arrays + 256 Gb RAM. We have to connect around 30 Mac OS clients for online video streaming (~7-8Gbits/sec) via NFSv3
Some times we have a users complain about freezing.
