Hi
Facing issues with XFCE4 GUI after a successful major release upgrade from 13.3 to 14.1.
Unable to start GUI as a non-root user. The screen freezes!
Nothing in dmesg or Xorg.0.log regarding this.

Hello everyone,
In an attempt to force myself to learn some freeBSD, i've decided to give it a shot on my laptop, I'm not a newbie to unix-like systems as i've been working as a linux system administrator for more then 2 decades now, but i've never really used freeBSD in depth except from some...
Hello. I'm new to FreeBSD, and I've just installed 13.0-RELEASE. After I installed xorg, I did "# pkg install nvidia-driver" which directed me to the legacy 390.x drivers on the NVIDIA website, as it said that the new 470.x driver would ignore my GPU. (I have a NVIDIA GeForce GT 430 card) I...
I obviously messed something up during an upgrade from 12.2 -> 13.0-RELEASE
Current state of the machine
- boot into multi-user mode, with ZFS on root, login as root
- mount shows zroot/ROOT/default mounted (obviously) of type zfs ... so there is basic ZFS functionality working in the kernel...
I am trying to connect to SSH from a VPN client to my FreeBSD server which is located on the LAN. Unless I am missing something, the fault seems to be with the FreeBSD server.
I can connect to it with no issues from within the LAN. Checking the traffic on the FreeBSD server with tcpdump I can...
I'm not sure if this is the correct forum area to post in since this involves the Linux emulation, but I'd like to get the Bedrock edition of the Minecraft server running on FreeBSD. I downloaded the latest version (1.16.1.02) for Linux, and this is what I got:

Hi all,
Today after a pkg upgrade gnome3 has stopped working.
The GDM screen appears normally, prompts for login, but the screen becomes dark with only the mouse pointer appearing.
The problem also happens if you disable GNOME and GDM in rc.conf and start with startx.

Aloha Community,
i am a very beginner in using FreeBSD and search and try the last 4 hours for a solution.
I installed FreeBSD a week a ago and used it every day to learn using it. Last week i installed ezjails to try with jails. So far so good. On Friday i installed two jails and all works...
Hi!
Yesterday was my first try to burn CD on FreeBSD 11.1-RELEASE and for my surprise didn't work with the same settings which I use few years:
(cd1:umass-sim0:0:0:0): READ(10). CDB: 28 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 01 00
(cd1:umass-sim0:0:0:0): CAM status: SCSI Status Error
(cd1:umass-sim0:0:0:0)...
I did update to 1.18.4 and now it doesn't start anymore.
My graphics card:
vendor='Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI]
device="RV770/MP8L
[Mobility Radeon HD 4850}'
My system is FreeBSD 11-RELEASE (amd64) installed on iMac and it works from version 7 and desktop from 10. I didn't have any...
I'm really new to FreeBSD/Xorg so I'm hoping this is something stupid.
I installed Xorg and KDE4. When I have kdm4_enable="YES" in /etc/rc.conf, the system boots up to KDM and logging in brings up the desktop. Everything's great.
What I want, though, is to log into command line and start KDE...
I can't seem to block traffic that is redirected via rdr
rdr pass on $ext_if proto tcp from any to $ext_ip_jails port 25 -> $jail_mail_ip port 25
block drop in on $ext_if from 1.2.3.4 to any
With these rules 1.2.3.4 can still access the smtpd on $jail_mail_ip.
How do I block redirected traffic...
