    abandon port emulators/fs-uae

SirDice just created a PR to change it to ports, as requested by acheron, I cannot approve the change as the maintainer email is just an alias., I hope you or someone else can do this behind the scenes. Thanks for taking over, much appreciated :-)

    abandon port emulators/fs-uae

Thanks, but the purpose of this post is that I want to stop being a maintainer of the port, as I have no time nor any setup running to maintain it.

    abandon port emulators/fs-uae

I don't have time to maintain emulators/fs-uae So it's time for me to release it to someone else or abandon it.

    freebsd-update mirror

I didn't complete the test as of yet, but as I can see, it requires the updating server to be in sync with the clients (exact same patch level), it could be a good workaround, but in the long run might end badly. if the freebsd-script gets this new function I think it would be able to do what...

    freebsd-update mirror

How would this work on a closed network. I connect the proxy server server to the internet, run freebsd-update from the server hosting the proxy, letting it update through the proxy. What would happen when the proxy is back on the closed network, and clients differ from the proxy and some...

    freebsd-update mirror

Since I have quite a few FreeBSD installations on a totally closed network, I'm looking to create a local mirror to update/upgrade these installations. The handbook has this nice article Build your own FreeBSD update server This may or may not be what I need, but I have questions as this...

    ZFS ZFS scrub/resilver performance

As Fabrice pointed out, the 730/830 series can be configured as HBA, the 730 can even do mixed mode (I haven't tried this on the 830 controller), so in RAID you can select some drives for RAID (i.e. system on raid1) and the rest you can select and configure as Non-RAID. Selecting multiple disks...

    ZFS ZFS scrub/resilver performance

thanks for the info.. it's good to know it's only cosmetic. I was wrong in saying the PERC 730 only can do 6G, it can do 12G as well.. but due to I (for some reason?) have a couple of 6G for system drives it pulls down the speed for the rest of the drives.

    ZFS ZFS scrub/resilver performance

since you have such bad performance and you're running your controller in HBA mode, have you checked what the OS has negotiated the disk transfer speed to? I'm about to make a post regarding my PERC830 which can do a 12G and the drives are 12G, and PERC730 can do 6G and drives 6G, why the...

Problems booting up Dell R730 - IDRAC

Thanks.. SirDice mentioned this in an other thread as well. https://forums.freebsd.org/threads/change-storage-driver-during-install.54222/

Solved Change storage driver during install

I finally found time to test this setting, and now it works with UEFI boot. (the following is for reference if other people are having the same issue) of course I had to enter the setting again upon first boot, then add set hw.mfi.mrsas_enable="1" to /boot/loader.conf to make the change...

Solved Change storage driver during install

I'm still fighting getting those Dell 730 and 630 servers to work with FreeBSD. I'm fighting with problems such as when starting a program like ssh, make or screen I get Illegal instructions (Core Dumped) mfid timeouts (controller) NMI errors (this happens on one server during install) I've...

Problems booting up Dell R730 - IDRAC

If the problem was just hidden I still wouldn't have been able to access the shell. I'm already running with latest firmwares. The controller was replaced today due to PCI parity errors + controller ram problems which occured after a few days of running. sysutils/screen repported Illegal...

Problems booting up Dell R730 - IDRAC

The R630 failed on boot today so I've removed the "Read Ahead" feature of the RAID on the drive that holds the FreeBSD installation. (F2 for setup on boot, configure devices -> integrated raid -> virtual drive -> advanced -> read ahead set to none) Doing so seems to have fixed the problem...

Problems booting up Dell R730 - IDRAC

Thanks, though I doubt the GPT causes the mentioned error. Useful information regardless :)
