Which desktop do you run on freebsd/linux

I like playing around with TWM. I keep coming back to XFCE whenever I want to just use the computer and not tinker around. My Linux use is so minimal I just use whatever default comes with the distro I am working with.

To be honest, I wish there was a DE that more closely mimicked Windows 3.1. I had some hopes when I read about progman, but that's functionally just a skin on TWM.

Out of curiosity, is there any reason you're not using fvwm3?
It's pretty easy: I did my config on fvwm2 before 3 was released. When I switched to 3 my 2er config did not produce the exact 100% same result on 3. There are some mismatches with my multihead setup, and some few other minor things. Not really a big deal, but things need to be adjusted. Besides I am too lazy to do unnecessary things, no matter how small they are, I simply don't see no reason why to spend time on adjust my settings again just to get the exact same result on fvwm3 which I already have with fvwm2. I see absolutely no difference whatsoever but it's just named 3 instead of 2, only.
You may point out a list of all the new features and benefits fvwm3 may bring. Obviously I don't need them. I don't miss anything. To my very personal needs it was unnecessary to develop 3 at all. Maybe if I took a closer look at it, I would judge otherwise, or at least recommend newcomers to prefer 3. But to me 3 is pretty pointless. I am not the kind of user who spend lots of times setting up, and changing the DE/WM. I need an environment that works for me, and then I use the machine (I have the same wallpaper and color settings for over six years. I don't care much about such stuff.)
So I switched back to 2. Worx. I am satisfied. Does all I need. Don't miss anything. End of story.

Edit: fvwm2 has another big advantage: It's not being developed anymore.😁
This means I don't need to worry about that one day with some new version suddenly my config breaks, or otherwise my desktop will not work anymore like I'm used to, because some developer(s) decided to change something (e.g. "let's make the config file in XML." 🤬), and suddenly I'm confronted with the must at highest priority to rework my config, or even need to look for and set up another WM first, before I can use my machine again.
I hate it, when such things happen. Can make me really lose the plot.
