Anybody looking forward to GIMP-3.0?

Who needs GIMP when you have the GMIC command line? :)
I almost agree
and it is useful still but I like all in one :). Liquid rescale is good too. I remember that Photoshop didn't have something like liquid rescale years ago.
It is interesting how Inkscape and GIMP became much better after many years. I use them from first versions. Looks like that I am old.

Whoopee, there's a gimp3-app in the ports
Oh, what fresh nightmares will it inflict on me, I'll have to see.
Didn't take long, built instantly. The only tool that seems to work is the paintbrush, presentation very nice, boy I'd be in a panic if I needed the tool and wasn't comfortable removing 3 and reinstalling gimp-2. Tried an Artistic Gimpressionist filter and the Undo function stopped, though the Undo History still worked. The colour selection seems bit wonky; can use the Change Foreground Color / Change Background Color but the paintbrush uses the previous colour when first activated, then switches to the new chosen colour as you move the brush.
It's funny to watch, but would certainly be a nightmare if a person was depending on it - at the moment it's acting more like a pre-Alpha than a Release; I'm delighted it's available for testing out and hope it'll get some of the major issues sorted shortly.

This has been a great plugin, much better than the GMIC alternative, it is something that I would love to have again on Gimp... 🙏🙏🙏
Do I take it, that you've got 3.0.4 working ? Able to use Smudge, Clone, Eraser, and other tools besides just Paintbrush? If so, can you confirm which architecture and BSD release you're using; and/or any suggestions on any gotcha that have been found with getting 3.0.4 to work?

Currently my FreeBSD workstation is broken...

I am using the Windows and Appimage version for Linux, I don't believe there is any build available for FreeBSD now...

As I said above, it's in the ports. But the dialogue seems buggered, it seems to keep trying to use a previous painting tool irrespective of which tool is selected; it wouldn't use text for example but then I selected it from the pull-down menu and the Text-box function came up, but each time I select a tool and click on the image the app flashes the Text-box options box until I move the cursor when the options changes but the brush only paints a single brush imprint irrespective of which painting tool is selected. A seriously messed up communication between the app and its dialogues.

I recommend you to back-up your previous Gimp settings and to clean the Gimp cache, and try to use it with a cleaned environment.
