Hmm, without knowing what's in your environment, I would suggest trying to link explicitly with -Wl,-rpath=/usr/local/lib/gcc13 and see if it works. You can then chase down why the linker is using the gcc10 libraries...
Well, I agree the word archive is probably not ideal and implies historical interest rather than current use. Unless the intention really is to discontinue man pages it would be better to use a more neutral term such as library or collection.
Hi all
I have some good news!
I’ve successfully got macOS 26.7 running on bhyve under FreeBSD 14.5.
It required quite a lot of patching, but it’s finally working. I’ll release the complete keelOS project soon.
I made some progress and got a core dump, finally.
Hopefully this will help someone else in the future (possibly a future version of me):
To get a core dump from a php-fpm worker, in php-fpm.conf, rlimit_core=unlimited needs to be set in the...
Anything further about this? Man page for intel on 15.1 has CustomEDID but it doesn't load and Xorg log nor dmesg mention trying to load it.
I have a Dell 5459 AIO with Intel HD 530 (Skylake) and 1080p screen on eDP:
I put a EDID here and chmod...
In high school I sometimes left study hall and went to a friend's multimedia class; I made a flash animation of stick guys fighting and hand-did every frame, and after a week that friend showed me some tool to automate easier stuff (like sword...

I'm no audio expert. I think the deciding property was the ability to process and output sound data with the highest possibie density to get close to real sound. Both Soundblaster and GUS were from before the time that a compuuter at home was...
This is on 16-current. Happens of two machines.

Never heard it. The content of magazinne shareware/shovelware cdroms in the 90's in Europe was unspecified adlib.or primitive sampled soundblaster "stream" tech. Was GUS really superior? What did it do better? I think this whole PC audio branch...
Passthrough reserves the device for bhyve, I don't like that idea, better to have another ssd and install the system there and switch ssd whenever you need it.
Extremely long file paths is more of an XY Problem than anything.
That said, POSIX dictates an absolute minimum file path length of 256 bytes, which is fine but possibly should be updated to respect the same length when using unicode (so 2-4x)...

I have three NVMe drives, each with a separate operating system: Windows 11, Debian Linux and FreeBSD. In the past I used to have three operating systems installed on a single drive, booted via GRUB in a multiboot configuration. Sometimes...
Been using Open Source very casually since about 99, but for some reason I found FreeBSD too intimidating. Levelling up, so to speak and appreciate the community. I've taken a liking to running it on my desktop because it feels really rewarding...
Hello to all. Im Matthew from Croatia i am 45yo. Firstly i used linux distros..and back in the day i already heard of FreeBSD, but i did not give it much of attention. As time was passing by i saw some video on you tube again about this OS, and...
Hi!
I've been on linux for over 20 years and enjoyed it immensely, but also always had that FreeBSD, in the back of my mind, wanting to explore it.. well, that time to explore seems to be happening right now, because I've finally made the leap...
There is a quiet confidence that comes with running an operating system built on architectural integrity, predictable behavior, and decades of engineering discipline. After relying on FreeBSD as my core platform, I wanted to share a brief...
Hello!
In 2003, I bought an Apple laptop for school and that led to 20+ years of primarily, but not exclusively, using Apple computers. Earlier this year, I decided I wanted to move away from Apple computers, but I knew I preferred Apple to...
Dang fellas, this is a technical forum and while the mods allow some variance, this one is really one that seems as if it should be taking place on a political forums. I think that most of us come here for FreeBSD discussion, and my post will be...

2026Q3 has 595.84, latest has 595.99.02. In case you were wondering where the difference came from.

Best way is to not mix with official repos at all. Things can go sideways when you have a custom repo (with custom options and defaults) that conflict with the 'standard' options and defaults from the FreeBSD repositories.
You can also buy PCIe cards that have 4 separate USB controllers on one card so that you can parcel them out to multiple VMs via PCIe passthrough. USB passthrough is always trouble.
I bought one just in case even though I don't use it right now.

Let's take a look at the system load now: VirtualBox plus the guest machine...
Let's examine a guest machine running on VMM/bhyve.
What resources does it consume?
Another point: with bhyve, I can launch the guest at a resolution of 1920x1080 or...
DRI_PRIME is for the cases where you have multiple GPUs in a system. For example an integrated intel GPU and an external nvidia GPU (the most common setup on a laptop). What the specific "DRI_PRIME=1" is saying is "select for rendering the first...
Might want to try using pkg-version to verify how PKG is seeing all this => pkg version -l\<; this will tell you what packages it denotes as upgradable. Or more direct: pkg version -vn popt. Maybe also utilize -r to pinpoint your queries to a...
Here is a zoomed screenshot of lightly rendered text. The "anti-aliasing" setting is in the desktop settings.
It looks like the case can be closed.
fahrenheit the xlibre is not installed.
Probably due to the version shenanigans, 1.19.20260818 to 1.19_2,1 and back to 1.19.20260818,1. I'm fairly certain pkg considers it to be a downgrade, not an upgrade.
What does pkg version -vRx popt show?
You actually can run Windows 7 on vm-bhyve; however, it doesn't work with just any image—only those capable of UEFI booting. And not all images support that. You can run the top-tier editions, like Enterprise or Ultimate, though likely only the...
As someone with ADHD my skill has always been hyperfocus, I will drown everything out, and I will not stop until something works. My advice would be local AI is healthier than cloud subscriptions. Pacing yourself is important not to become...
When I was using the keyboard LEDs as mail indicator (`ledbiff`) I was always tempted to program the LEDs to emit Morse code, too, encoding some basic info on the nature of the new mail.
(unfortunately Xorg broke direct LED control on most PCs...
Yes, controlling the context size is important. Think about what you need when picking an LLM for your video card. If you need more context size you might have to use a smaller model on the same video card.
Alain, why do you use no-mmap?
