cracauer@ I've always had Samsung phones but Samsung fiddles with things too much and I can't figure out what or where settings are. Was thinking of getting a Pixel phone. I like Google services. Should I get a Pixel phone?
To follow up on this, my wife's old Samsung phone wasn't holding a charge anymore and our phone service through Spectrum had a deal on trading in phones that ends tomorrow. Since I complain "all the time" about my Samsung phone we went ahead and both got new Pixel 11s.
I tinkered with it for all of 60 seconds this morning and like it so far. One issue that happened right away is we got the phones last night and tried to transfer our service online through Spectrum's site. It showed our phones but claimed we wanted new phone numbers and that our old phones were identical (they are not). Online chat was surprisingly helpful and got us started on transferring the phones.
The second issue is that Google will transfer all your data, passwords, apps, etc. to the new phones (which was awesome!) but when the transfer starts, there's a button at the bottom that says "Continue using while transferring". I wasn't about to do that and just wanted the thing to complete.
It took maybe five minutes to reach 100%...and then it just sat there.
15 minutes went by and I touched base with Spectrum online again. They said, yes, it can take up to two hours sometimes for completion. Online search said the same thing. One source even said 24 hours(!). I just went to bed.
12:30 in the morning it's still transferring.
2:00 in the morning it's still transferring. (Potty break) This is stupid. From the beginning I was wondering if that "Continue using while transferring" button was a question and not a statement. I tapped the button. "One minute till completion" said the popup.
So I thought OK I'll wait for it to complete. Then the questions started. "Do you agree with installing a whole bunch of stuff and agreeing to every worldwide legal requirement we can think of? We'll go through all 150 of them one at a time till we're done." It's 2:00 in the morning.
Anyway. After 60 seconds of usage, I think I'm going to love my new Pixel phone.
