I think this is a VERY positive development for both the French and German governments.
They are both going to have to experiment with this, and they may make some missteps along the way. But this is a step in the right direction.
I believe this is only needed if you want some sort of hardware acceleration. I don't need that, and don't install those drivers, and it is working well for basic access.
I didn't see anything in the xorg log that clued me in on a problem, but...
I use xrdp regularly, and it has worked for me with minimal fuss.
Let's start with some basics:
Are you using xorg, xlibre, or Wayland?
Things should work the same with xorg or xlibre, but there may be enough differences to matter.
Did you...
Bootloaders are starting from block 40 and sized 512k right now. MBR vs. GPT has nothing to do with this. And the master boot record itself will be at block 0, always. FreeBSD's PMBR will load the bootcode from freebsd-boot (well within reach of...
Don't think net/realtek-re-kmod is actually needed. I mean it works if the OP configures the network card from the command line. In other words, re seems to work but for some reason it's not configured after a boot.
This project is more pragmatic. The aim is to establish sovereign IT systems for civil employees while simultaneously reducing costs. The first step is to reduce reliance on Microsoft. This was already done since 2008 by the National Gendarmerie...
They did, I belive. Especially the cloud act is a huge c.f. waiting to happen. Looking at the treatment of judges and prosecutors at the ICC, you simply can not tolerate having mission critical things relying on anything that can be tampered with...
Yes and this reduce admin costs. These are the two main reasons why the government chose NixOS.
Here, the choice of NixOS is only for desktop computers. Real-time systems are of little or no interest in this case.
The input file has UTF8 encoded chars. If you set env.var LANG to en_GB.ISO8859-1, less will show "â<80><94>" but if you set it to "", you will see "<E2><80><94>". If you set LANG to en_US.UTF-8 or something UTF-8, you will indeed see "—".
EM DASH is a very mainstream word-processing character.
If it were really expecting UTF-8, I would expect a character that can't be printed to be displayed as <E2><80><92> . There is no single byte UTF-8 character with the high bit set, but in...
No.
At work, you're paid to do what your boss tells you, whether you like it or not, period.
If you choose a hobby, it's only because you like doing it. If you choose programming as a hobby, it's because you like programming, and the last thing...

An old laptop running mate + numix-gtk-theme + numix-icon-theme + lightdm, customized so that a Windows user would barely notice he's using FreeBSD, so wouldn't complain about the change. ;) :)
Whether you still need swapspace with 96 GB RAM depends entirely on what you do on the machine,
I can't say whether swao to a file in ZFS in FreeBSD is safe or not. All I am saying is that a decades old Oracle comment froom Solaris is no indication.
In case of it running on a PC, I think you should wonder what's the cruicial "payload" knowledge that binds this particular software solution to 1 particular operating system configuration. Even while its content is beyond what's already part of...
Only based on what I have observed at $work: the "lure" of NixOS is that you can have reproducible, known-state installs, in a way that you would never invest enough time in if you were trying to do the same with Ansible.
Known-state install is...
Ah, BayTrail and the famous "32 bit UEFI". Read these threads

I saw a post today where someone wrote "lk what if i wanted to go down there..." I had to reread and think about that line for a minute to finally figure out "lk" was "like".
A lot of this is just electrical interface and nothing to do with FreeBSD. Once you have a method of obtaining the data, the rest is just writing the program to analyze and display it.
They didn't grab nixOS to have things happening by force and out of sight, like age vefirification and association with American cloud services? I would like to be convinced of that. So, what made them choose this system? It must be something...
The choice of 1 particular distribution looks like a false motivation. What's the point of NixOS? I can imagine a non-transparent container framework that does things unverifiable, but tha'ts based on what I read. I never used it,
The point of them is to have something that's at least partially usable to people that speak other languages. And, I'm sure they do accept patches from anybody that does understand the languages, the bar to actually doing it is fairly low...
sqlite3 /var/db/pkg/repo-FreeBSD.sqlite "select origin, name from packages where origin in (select origin from packages where name='qemu-guest-agent');"
shows origin and all ports with the same origin
you don't even have to have ports installed
pkg query '%o' pkgname gives you the port origin, then make -C /dir/to/port/origin -V FLAVORS gives you all the flavors of the port. make FLAVOR=flavorname -C /dir/to/port/origin -V PKGBASE gives you back the package name (repeat for each flavor).
AI would be useful for checking salt and mineral levels, then determining the correct amount of each nutrient to add, or when to flush the system. Salts could use filtering, either through using some aquaponics and/or by some other method. Slow...

Well, I have no problem read english, talking is another story, I need at least 2 or 3 weeks in a english speaking country to be fluent, then when I back to home for a long period I forget it. Only strict tech english I do not forget.
In early...
