Another nice setup guide from vermaden
https://vermaden.wordpress.com/freebsd-desktop/
Just follow his guide... I think there are some others around on the web too, but his stuff is quality. Or try 'robonuggie' on youtube, he has some good video...
@drhowardfine, I think that's why we remain forum friends. We don't get into political arguments, (which, I should add, the forum moderators are very good about aiding to discourage such things).
Now you're getting a hundred different directions to go and some of them might be right and most of them will be outdated or wrong and will get you deep into the weeds before you realize it. It's best to follow the Handbook and ask questions here...
I've been using LXDE for a long time and it does what I need so no reason to change, although from what I gather LXQT is functionally similar.
I've been using chromium forever, but each to his own.
It sounds like you have the basics covered if...
This is really a failure of the human submitter. It has always been protocol to check whether a given bug already has a PR before filing it.
Omitting that check is rude regardless of whether the new report is human or LLM made.
Fixed.
This was caused by sendmail listening to A records for some reason, which were still pointing to the old machine. With MX and A records all pointing to the new one it works.
In the port dir but all dependencies that are already installed will not show up anymore. It's a chain of if conditions that shows what would be done by make in the current situation. Something must differ if you add a FLAVOR= assignment to the...
I like to keep things to a minimum so after installing the base system I install xorg lxde-meta and chromium.
Initially I insalled xfce but eventually found lxde much more lightweiight and does what I need.
After booting up I run startx rather...
I use claude.ai, sadly, usually when I'm feeling lazy, but sometimes, when I simply can't find somthing. I'd say it's given me real help about 30% of the time. The other 70% it's told me to check things I already knew to check, and the like. For...
You can't just use the English words as source code. The LLM will generate something different each time.
(I know that some people do this and git commit their prompts, but they also commit the code)

Indeed; there is quite a similarity. Its a weird hype distro. It will be gone in less than a year.
CrunchBang was the previous generation hype distro but things like Bazzite, Omarchy are in the same genre.
Its funny how nothing changes. Pre 2010...
fwiw, chatbots gave me code that didn't work three times and a layout for my garden once that wasn't usable. So there's my counterpoint but shows that AI is not always correct or even close.
DHH is not a kernel engineer. You're parading nonsense from a mere Ruby developer about what a prestigious project like FreeBSD should do. AI coded or not; a Linux distro is a Linux distro - it's nothing special. Interview fluff doesn't change...
I'm actually quite tired of all the AI focused threads on the bsd forums. Intelligent people understand the dangers, yet intelligence and business interests never seem to co-exist well...and at the rate we are going, shortly there wont be any...
Well said. Who will repair the robots that repair the robots that repair everything?
And now, if I see one more posting generated by some AI, I'll frown upon it mightily.
Get it? Got it! Good.*
*bonus points for the one knowing the movie...

Look like that never press 'help" in GIMP but today I try and it doesn't works off line and not online.
I got:
I have installed gimp-help-en but I am using packages. Is it possible with some settings to use offline, please?
It's possible but I don't know what extra items enabling that would need or if it is even supported.
https://github.com/llvm/llvm-project/issues/130818 seems to say it's not or not in FreeBSD base versions.
However, installing date via pkg...
Maybe make -n of the port that has flavors and grep out the dependency builds that it triggers with this flavor enabled, and hope you recognize the special case port?
I turned off dbus on my 15.3-RELEASE and rebooted. service dbus status shows dbus is not running.
pkg info -r dbus shows which packages installed dbus as a dependency:
firefox-154.0.1,2
chromium-151.0.7922.137_2
qt6-base-6.11.1...
Given (1) a ports tree and (2) the name of a package that is a non-default flavor of a differently named port, how do I find which port it is coming from?
E.g. qemu-guest-agent
It sounds reasonable. AI as how it is now doesn't seem to be somehow constructive and able to create something useful that was never done before. Are there even things invented by an AI system that are not copied from public data but real new...
I actually had a W520 for a while at work, back when they were the latest thing. The theory was that the company could replace a real desktop PC and a separate laptop with a single big laptop. It didn't really work out because the W520 was a...

then they have to completely dump it all and start from scratch, costing them a lot of money and ruining their whole business model.
That's why one should stop adding garbage like captchas or that annoying weeb-filter which only p*ss of humans...
The site is useful as a case study. If you understand that, it's not necessarily harmful.
From what I gather, AI in search engines will determine what is believed by most humans, right or wrong. It will say, things which haven't been discovered...
OK, new detail.
The above rejection and message appears only when using mail(1) on the command line.
Mail coming in via SMTP for the same addresses in cons.org work fine and are delivered as they should.
Now I am even more confused.
The Linux kernel has a very liberal interpertation of what should be a CVE: "almost any bug might be exploitable to compromise the security of the kernel, but the possibility of exploitation is often not evident when the bug is fixed. Because of...

Doesn't the rc.d service have commands for rescanning and rebuilding database?

as far as we can tell the LLM is either strictly inferior or at best "roughly equivalent to chance" than any other technique, and the only reason it isn't being laughed out of the room is the zillions of dollars being poured into it by the same...
The service was stopper after rescan (wait 30 seconds before stopping it, I do not know how many time it gets to rescan) and restart it after 2 seconds
